A beautiful antique copy of Homing With the Birds by Gene Stratton-Porter, with its original brown cloth cover, black lettering and embossed bird design.
Inside the front cover is a handwritten Christmas inscription dated 1920: “A Merry Christmas to Arthur, From Mrs. H—, 1920.” One of those little details that makes an old book feel especially personal—you can’t help but wonder who Arthur was and where this book has been for the last century.
The book shows significant age and wear, including wear to the cloth cover and spine, discoloration to the pages and a loose/separating front hinge, as pictured. It remains a beautiful display piece for a collection of antique books, nature books or bird-related ephemera.
